Journal Notes Pg. 114-119

The first portrait is a candid one. This shows the boy doing a fun activity, playing in the water. The boy is not posing, but is still the main focus of the photo. The photo captures the boy being natural. A good photographer takes good candid photos by going unnoticed by the subject. The photographer achieves this because the boy does not notice his picture being taken. The surroundings in the photo help add to the picture and the setting of the subject. The second portrait is a formal one. It is a simple photograph, and the emphasis is on the subject, not the surroundings of the photo. The background is neutral and puts the focus on the subject.
